“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire” ~William Butler Yeats.
At Meridian Academy we know that students learn best when they are interested, engaged, and empowered. Education occurs when students get excited about learning. Our students love to come to school!
We keep students’ interest by exploring topics that are compelling to them. Children become engaged when their learning style is addressed, be it visual, verbal, aural, kinesthetic, or social. Students become empowered when they see that their individuality is valued and they feel confident in their ability to learn and succeed.
Each student comes with their own unique genius, learning style, personality, and potential. Our communities need this individuality. The push for standardization is killing creativity and innovation, two things that are crucial to the ever changing global economy. Meridian Academy addresses students’ unique learning styles, cultivates original thought, and promotes the building of character, enabling them to contribute to their communities in meaningful and positive ways.
Meridian Academy’s multi-age classrooms enable us to group students according to their readiness to learn in any given subject. It works really well.
